Workshop on public-private research collaboration in the area of Personalized Medicine August 29th 2017

Tuesday August 29th at 11:00 am – 03:00 pm (CET) in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The area of Personalised Medicine has the potential of becoming an important Danish research area with promising possibilities within public-private collaboration on better and new treatment forms – e.g. medicines - that will benefit patients. An important prerequisite for realising this potential is a clear and secure framework for collaboration among public researchers, clinicians, patients and private actors along the entire research value chain.

Therefore, the Board of the National Strategy for Personalised Medicine invites representatives from public and private healthcare and research organisations to an open discussion about barriers and opportunities for public-private research collaboration in the area of Personalised Medicine.

Based on analyses of professional, technical, ethical and financial aspects and valuable inputs from experts, stakeholders, international experiences and Danish citizens, the Danish National Strategy for Personalised Medicine 2017-2020 was launched in December 2016.

Overall, the focus of the strategy is to:

  • Establish a foundation for the development of better and more targeted health care for patients, through the use of new technologies and new knowledge
  • Strengthen the ethical, legal and safety aspects related to the use of genetic information in health care
  • Establish a joint governance structure and strengthen collaborations across the country – both in healthcare and research
  • Establish a cooperation about a safe, joint and coherent technological infrastructure
  • Initiate relevant research and development projects

Target group
The primary target groups for the workshop are representatives from relevant industry organisations, directors (e.g. research directors) from pharma, medical, biotech and IT companies with research and development activities in and outside Denmark as well as representatives from the public health care service and public research organisations in Denmark.
